Sustainability is the foundation of all our actions.
This means acting responsibly on all levels: Preserving the ecological balance, ensuring fair working conditions and putting energy into social engagement. We are convinced, that only a positive spirit of togetherness – with nature and each other – will truly come to long-lasting fruition.

Saving the future with the wisdom of the past

SAVING THE FUTURE WITH THE WISDOM OF THE PAST

Preserving our environment for future generations is the core purpose of our actions. For this reason and because we believe, that only pure and genuine plant products fully unfold their holistic healing potential, we have prioritized personal contact to our worldwide farm partnerships from the very beginning. Initiating and cultivation these partnerships enables us to offer the highest quality raw materials possible. Our common goal to work in alignment with nature connects us deeply to our partners and has created close friendships over the years. Fairness, transparency and trust are key aspects of our company philosophy.

SUSTAINABILITY

Green Brand Germany

Since 2013 PRIMAVERA has now received the renowned GREEN BRAND AWARD for the fourth time. The international Green Brand Organization confirmed that PRIMAVERA was able to improve its results in regard to sustainability and ecology in comparison to the past years. The successful energy footprint and the strong engagement in raising environmental awareness particularly contributed to this year’s improvement. We are proud of our achievement and honored by this meaningful acknowledgement.

Sustainable packaging

Sustainable Packaging

Designing innovative solutions for sustainable packaging, supporting easeful application and protecting natural resources are the goals that motivate our packaging designers.

  • Protective Coating
Our green and brown glass bottles are coated with a layer of eco-friendly UV protection varnish that ensure the longevity of our products without needing additional outer packaging.

  • Recycling
We use recyclable glass bottles and jars, that can be reused without any loss of quality. Our synthetic tubes are predominantly made of recycled plastics.

  • No Outer Packaging
In order to protect natural resources, we focus on minimizing our packaging, wherever possible. We therefore avoid any package inserts or additional outer packaging.

  • Sustainable Paper & Printing inks
For our few products that need outer packaging for communicating important information, we exclusively use recycled paper or paper from a certified sustainable forestry. Our prints are done chemical-free with a specific ecological printing ink.

Organic Cultivation

In collaboration with our like-minded farm partnerships we are able to achieve our high standards to only use ingredients that fully support health and well-being as much as the ecological balance of our planet.

We deeply care about the preservation of our farmers’ traditions and livelihood, while fostering a holistic understanding about sustainable agriculture. We currently source 140 organic ingredients from over 13 farm partners around the world.

Preserving resources

Preserving Resources

Preserving nature’s precious resources is very important to us. One central manifestation of this principle is our headquarter facility in the Allgäu region in Southern Germany.

Our vision was a facility that forever gives back to nature what it takes, as it harmoniously blends with the curvy hills of the picturesque Allgäu landscapes. More than just a building, we designed an island of sustainability that gives our employees an experience of creativity, inspiration and holistic well-being. Stemming from our two central themes of ecology and sustainability, our goal was to reach absolute carbon-neutrality.

In the fall of 2010 we moved into our new headquarters. Thanks to our elaborate garden design, we were able to increase and replant the land surface, giving nature back a greater biosphere than originally existed.

Fair Trade

Respect for nature and humankind

Ethical business practices and cooperative collaboration with our partners are integral parts of our company’s philosophy. All our business relationships are based on respect, integrity and trust. In each of our relationships, PRIMAVERA enriches our partner through both immediate rewards and with the skills and knowledge that will provide future sustainability.

Fair trade means to us:

  • Long-lasting Relationships
We strive to build long-lasting relationships to all our producers, farmers and cooperatives.

  • Guaranteed Purchase
We support young cooperatives and cultivation projects, we guarantee purchase and commit to long-term contracts, that contribute to their autonomy and independence.

  • Fair Agreements
Purchase prices are fairly determined by both production costs and the current market rate.

  • Education & Consultation
We support our production partners every step of the way through training and consultation, developing and fine-tuning their practices.

  • Immediacy & Transparency
We source most essential oils and plant raw materials directly from the producer, creating a transparent and green supply chain.

Social Projects

Bhutan Youth Development Fund

The Bhutan Youth Development Fund supports children and young adults in challenging living situations, creating a strong foundation for an autonomous future through various projects. Making education available does not only entail the supply of tuition and school materials, but also includes food and accommodations for those children who live too far away for a daily commute and cannot otherwise afford going to school.

Additionally, a variety of extracurricular activities is offered, allowing for individual care and support, and providing a key element for the development of the physically or psychologically challenged. Furthermore, the transition into work life is endorsed through scholarships and vocational training programs. Young women in particular have profoundly benefited from this extra level of assistance.

In 2013, we had the joyful opportunity to support the Bhutan Youth Development Fund with a donation of 10.000 Euros, accumulated through our Christmas collection. Since, we make a donation every year for Christmas and are delighted by our regular contact.

Navdanya

Navdanya

„Seeds are the nucleus of all life.“ The goal of preserving the diversity of this natural treasure and making it available to everybody deserves our full attention and support.

The organization’s name Navdanya means “nine seeds” (symbolizing protection of biological and cultural diversity). It was founded by Dr. Vandana Shiva more than 20 years ago and is committed to the conservation of seeds, biodiversity and knowledge of the seed and its utilization. Navdanya is a network of seed keepers and organic producers spread across 22 states in India. Navdanya has helped set up 122 community seed banks across the country, trained over 9,00,000 farmers in seed sovereignty, food sovereignty and sustainable agriculture over the past two decades, and helped setup the largest direct marketing, fair trade organic network in the country.

Navdanya has also set up a learning center, Bija Vidyapeeth (School of the Seed / Earth University) on its biodiversity conservation and organic farm in Doon Valley, Uttarakhand, North India. Navdanya is actively involved in the rejuvenation of indigenous knowledge and culture. It has created awareness on the hazards of genetic engineering, defended people's knowledge from biopiracy and food rights in the face of globalisation and climate change. Navdanya is a women-centred movement for the protection of biological and cultural diversity.

Soap Project BIO BHUTAN

PRIMAVERA‘s cooperation with the Lemongrass Cooperative of BIO BHUTAN has existed for many years. Supporting the members of the cooperative in becoming economically autonomous, is dearly important to us. Our collaboration with the Soap Project is empowering the women of the cooperative, positively impacting the lives of many families and preserving the biological diversity of the unique nature of Bhutan.

In 2010, the construction of Bhutan‘s first soap manufactory began, able to finally complete the construction in 2013 through the support of PRIMAVERA. The project’s revenue finances all workers‘ wages, offering a reliable source of income for over 50 families, enabling locals to work in their home towns. Over 85 % of the natural soaps are produced by women, integrating them in the economic life and offering an additional support to their families. The extra income enables many families to send their children to school.
