Packaging

Why doesn’t PRIMAVERA use biodegradable plastic for packaging?
PRIMAVERA believes in the potential of biodegradable packaging materials, and our Research and Development team is always on the lookout for the most eco-friendly materials. So far, our tests have concluded that biodegradable plastic breaks down prematurely when in contact with our completely natural formulas; the plastic “recognizes” the plant-based ingredients as a signal to begin its decomposition.
Why do some PRIMAVERA products come in a carton and some don’t?
PRIMAVERA has made a promise to reduce our packaging, and we have eliminated inserts and outer cartons wherever possible. Because some Face Care products require additional product information that we feel is important to share with customers, we have chosen to use an outer carton. In such cases, we use paper made from sustainable and recycled sources printed with chemical-free printing plates and Eco-Color dye. We know that PRIMAVERA customers want to protect the Earth as much as we do, and we trust that our customers will dispose of packaging appropriately.
Why does the text on PRIMAVERA’s packaging appear in both English and German?
PRIMAVERA is a German company based at the foot of the Alps in southern Germany, but we also offer our products internationally. Printing our packaging text bilingually keeps quantities to a minimum, which reduces our printing waste and allows us to share PRIMAVERA products with more people around the world.

Formulas & Ingredients

What kind of oil does PRIMAVERA use and why?
PRIMAVERA uses a range of organic, cold-pressed essential oils, seed oils and base oils with therapeutic benefits for the skin and senses. Our formulas contain only the purest natural oils derived from plants, which naturally regulate skin’s sebaceous glands to balance oil production. Our essential oils, seed oils and base oils provide skin with vital nutrients and are easily absorbed without leaving a greasy residue. For more information on our therapeutic plant ingredients, please see the Our Ingredients section of this manual.
Why doesn’t PRIMAVERA use mineral oil?
Mineral oil, also known as liquid petroleum, is a bi-product of petroleum distillation to produce gasoline and other substances derived from crude oil. Because mineral oil is not derived from a living source, it does not nourish skin the way plant-derived oils do. And because mineral oil’s composition is so dissimilar to skin’s natural composition, it leaves skin feeling greasy and suffocated.
What is the “fragrance” or “parfum” listed in PRIMAVERA’s ingredient lists?
PRIMAVERA products rely on the highest quality pure, natural essential oils. We are a German company and subject to European regulations, which require that we list our essential oils as “Fragrance/Parfum.” Absolutely no synthetic fragrances or perfumes are used to scent any of our products.
Why do some of the ingredients listed in PRIMAVERA products sound like chemical names?
PRIMAVERA formulas are completely pure and natural, free of any synthetics, parabens and genetically modified plants. Some of the natural ingredients in our products have scientific names that could be mistaken as chemical names. For more information, please see our Ingredient Glossary.
Why do some PRIMAVERA products contain alcohol?
PRIMAVERA uses food-grade, organic alcohol as the natural solvent for our plant extracts. We only use pure alcohol derived from organic wheat, which has toning, refreshing and antibacterial skin benefits.
What should I do about a slight skin reaction from PRIMAVERA treatments?
PRIMAVERA’s products are created to work synergistically with the skin. In some cases, a user might experience a slight, short-term skin reaction when incorporating PRIMAVERA products into a skincare routine. This is a normal process that occurs as skin adjusts to PRIMAVERA’s certified natural formulas after being accustomed to the synthetic chemicals, dyes, fragrances and preservatives in conventional formulas. First-time users may experience a mild, temporary reaction as skin adjusts. Users who experience severe or long-term reactions (more than four weeks) should discontinue using PRIMAVERA products and consult a healthcare professional.
What should I do if I have a known allergy to one of PRIMAVERA’s ingredients?
We advise that anyone with a known allergy to one of PRIMAVERA’s ingredients avoid using products that contain the allergen or consult a healthcare professional first. In cases of uncertainty, a small patch test may be done on the inner forearm.
